Hummingbird Travel is a wholesaler and ground handler for the Indian Ocean, specialising in the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Mauritius & Seychelles.
Operating in the Indian Ocean for over thirty years, we are proud to say we have unrivalled knowledge of the destinations we feature. Our main focus is to make the destinations easy and accessible to our clients by negotiating the most competitive rates and being able to supply all the sales tools they need to sell the destination.
Clients will have access to our online booking system and extensive allocation and there is the unique advantage of an office in the UK, Maldives & Sri Lanka.
With offices open 365 days a year and an experienced sales team on hand to assist in each destination we know clients will be able to sell our destinations with confidence.
Our history
Hummingbird Travel was started in 1987 as the first air transfer company in the Maldives. At a time when the big luxury brands were entering into the Maldives after the destination had made a name for itself as a diving and then honeymoon paradise, Hummingbird Helicopters was well timed to offer a quick and comfortable solution over traditional dhoni’s and speedboats.
After selling to Trans Maldivian Airways in 1999, Hummingbird Travel was created as a DMC/wholesaler for the Maldives & Sri Lanka and within a few years had added Mauritius and Seychelles. Initially set up to enable tour operator’s easy access to these destinations, over time Hummingbird’s client base spread also to luxury operators, high end boutique agencies and concierge & lifestyle companies.
With a focus on rates, service, destination expertise and increasingly technology, the company has grown from strength to strength to become a market leader as an Indian Ocean DMC. Hummingbird has a genuinely global client base and thanks to the online booking engine plus office’s in the Maldives, Sri Lanka and UK, clients can make bookings and deal with the team wherever they are in the world.

As a traditional DMC Hummingbird is well placed to offer the high level of service and attention to detail required from our clients, as well as offering technology based solutions to ensure instant quotes and confirmations.
Hummingbird is experienced in handling UHNWI’s, celebrities & royalty with discretion and care, as well as regularly organising incentives and groups of all sizes and logistical complexity.
